Evren Westhead (she/her/hers) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with Dr. Joti Samra, R.Psych. & Associates. She has extensive experience in one-to-one conflict resolution, and her clinical focus and interest lies in chronic pain and illness that is medically unexplained. Evren’s therapeutic approach helps bring the subtle dynamics out into the open, and helps to address them directly.
Evren holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a focus on Vocational Rehabilitation. Her previous professional experience includes working in the small business and investment sectors, and she holds a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Sonoma State University in California. 

Evren uses evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy (MBSR) in her therapeutic approach. Evren is passionate about supporting clients from the LGBTQ+ community and has over two years of volunteer experience counselling with Qmunity- a LGBTQ+ community centre located in Downtown Vancouver. She has experience in working with clients dealing with; anxiety, chronic pain, relationship conflict, workplace stress, and disability cases.

Prior to joining the clinical team, Evren was a business owner of a retail organic baby clothing company. In addition to her business endeavours, Evren has experience counselling in various roles, from vocational rehabilitation to outpatient care settings in hospitals. She has worked with women with postpartum depression, on suicide lines and with people with a range of chronic and complicated health conditions. Evren was also a volunteer counsellor at Qmunity for a number of years. Qmunity is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, BC that works to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives.

Evren works closely with Dr. Samra to develop individualized treatment plans for each client. She offers her services via online (virtual) counselling and in-person at her Burnaby office (4170 Still Creek Drive, Suite 200).

When not counselling in Burnaby, you can find Evren exploring the outdoors with her two toddlers and travelling as a family. Evren loves great nearby nature, parks, best community centres and activities, Hats Off Day, how the Heights come alive during the holidays season, how some streets make the effort to decorate their homes and generously participate in the holiday spirit.
