Clinical Counsellor & Workplace Consultant
Rita Schnarr is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Masters in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University, a B.A. in Adult Education, and a Diploma in Professional Counselling. As well, she is a member of the International OCD Foundation where she graduated from the Behavioural Therapy Training Institute and also serves on the Psychology Advisory Committee at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Rita has expertise in using evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Exposure Response-Prevention (ERP), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Using a holistic and biopsychosocial approach, Rita customizes treatment plans for individuals, couples, families and workplace employees with a range of presenting issues including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD, behavioural disorders, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
With over 25 years of professional workplace experience in human resources and learning and development, Rita has a solid understanding of the challenges faced by both employees and executives. Her media experience includes being a Columnist in the Creating Families national magazine and having been interviewed several times on CBC Radio, CKNW, CFAX, BC Business Magazine, Westender, Reader’s Digest, UBC, and Fairchild Television. She has presented at the Senate of Canada, the Provincial Government, and has delivered keynote speeches and participated on panels with both the Vancouver and Delta Chamber of Commerce and the Vancouver Board of Trade, and the Women’s Leadership Circle.

Rita has been a Counselling Associate & Workplace Consultant with Dr. Joti Samra, R.Psych. & Associates since 2017. She offers counselling via telehealth (remote videoconference), as well as at her office located at: Suite 225 – 970 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC.
